6 Signs You Are Being Manipulated By A Narcissist

When we are in a relationship with someone, we often wear blinders and refuse to accept obvious signs. One of the most common mistakes that is made in the world of relationships is choosing to date a manipulative narcissist. If you are currently being manipulated by one of these types, the following six signs will slowly begin to manifest themselves. Be sure to read on and learn more…

1. Guilt

Does the person regularly take you on trips to Guiltville? Guilt trips are not a part of any normal or healthy relationships. They are a sign that the person wishes to manipulate you into feeling a certain way. An emotionally manipulative person is always able to portray themselves as a victim and they will say absolutely anything to convince you of this.

2. Bullying

Bullying is a clear sign of emotional manipulation. A narcissistic person tends to be a bully by nature. Bullying can take place in the form of physical violence. It can also take place in the form of emotional abuse. If the person is physically and/or emotionally abusive? This is a sign to run for the hills.

3. Silence

Giving someone the silent treatment may seem funny and cute when you see the tactic performed on television shows. But this is actually considered to be a textbook sign of manipulation. It is thought to be an emotional “back door” that allows the person to avoid dealing with their emotions like an adult.

4. Downplaying

The downplaying of other people’s problems is a classic sign that you are dealing with a narcissistic manipulator. In their mind, no one’s problems could ever possibly eclipse their own. They know how to make others feel less important by diminishing their problems. They may even decide to downplay your accomplishments as well.

5. Attention

A narcissist who is experienced in manipulation will even be able to suck all of the attention out of a room. They know how to make sure that they remain the focus. An attention seeker is not someone that should be trusted. If the person seems to be doing everything in their power to remain the center of attention? This is not a good sign.

6. Twisted Words

Those who have learned how to be manipulative can always twist your own words to use them against you. This practice is known as gaslighting. When a person repeatedly twists your words in an effort to make you feel like the crazy one, this is one of the most dangerous signs of all.
