Daisy Lynn was all of 14 months old when she was taken to the dentist and while the procedure that took place was expected to be a relatively routine one, the ending of this story is a rather shocking one that should give pause to parents everywhere. Daisy’s mother Betty brought her to the Austin Children’s Dentistry clinic and while the appointment was supposed to be like any other routine checkup, she was left with a profound sense of sadness.
Dr. Michael Melanson is the physician who is responsible for what took place on this fateful day and this story is one that is very hard to believe. While he is thought to be a pediatric specialist in this regard, his actions suggest that he still has a long way to go before he is considered to be one of the primary experts in his chosen field.
Daisy Lynn had two cavities that needed to be fixed and she was also in need of some crowns. She was placed under anesthesia for the procedure and this is the moment when tragedy struck. The child went into cardiac arrest and passed away the same day. This event was already tragic enough, but the events that took place in the immediate aftermath only served to make things even worse.
Once the autopsy was performed, it was found that Daisy’s death was caused by an adverse reaction to the sedative that she was originally given. As if this were not shocking enough, it also turned out that the aforementioned dental problems that Daisy was supposed to be having fixed was a nonexistent one and this fact makes our blood boil with rage.
Medical professionals are supposed to be here to help us get better, not treat problems that don’t even exist. The doctor who is responsible for this senseless tragedy is already trying to distance himself from the situation and claim that he did not do anything wrong. However, it is clear as day to see that this is almost entirely his fault.
Please take a moment out of your day to share this story and spread awareness about this negligent doctor and the clinic that employs him. No child should ever be laid to rest at such a young age because of such an avoidable mistake. Let’s all band together and stop doctors from continuously getting away with this type of wrongdoing.
