Doctors Warn Parents About The Latest ‘Shell On Challenge’ That Has Teens Eating Food Packaging

Love it or hate it, you have to admit that social media has changed our lives in many ways. Some people use it to connect with friends and family members that may live far away to share pictures and stories. There has also been some concern that it has affected how much time parents spend with their children. Let’s at least hope that parents spend enough time with their kids to teach them to open a bag of potato chips before eating it.

It seems as if another challenge is now circulating and it is just as bizarre as many of the other online challenges. This one is also potentially dangerous.

So far, the challenge is only circulating within the United States. It is the ‘shell on challenge’ and it involves teens shooting a video of themselves eating food without removing the packaging first.

Perhaps they might eat a handful of peanuts without taking them out of the shell first or a banana without peeling it. They might also take some cupcakes that are wrapped in plastic or cardboard and eat the wrapping as well as what is inside.

Like many challenges, teenagers are doing this to impress people that they have never met. It has left many people wondering who thought that this was a good idea in the first place.

Doctors have also been involved in telling teenagers to stop this activity. Banana peels or peanut shells may not be bad for you but eating cardboard or plastic could certainly be harmful. Who knows what type of chemicals are included in the wrapper?

Keep an eye on your teenagers’ social media accounts and warn them to avoid this insane new challenge.
