This video and these photos did not take long to go viral. It is definitely easy to see why, isn’t it? We are choking back tears just looking at them/ Mabalacat City College professor Carmelito Marcelo was responsible for teaching students in Pampanga, Philippines. While his students knew him well, he was also known for having the most incredible companion.

Buboy the dog was found as a Manila stray four years ago. The professor found him and the two would become fast friends. Carmelito and Buboy would spend a great deal of time together on campus. The dog loved to curl up at his owner’s feet. The loyalty that the dog showed was rewarded. Buboy had all of the food and companionship that an animal could possibly want.

Sadly, Marcelo’s health began to suffer. He had a stroke and was rushed into intensive care. After a two week stint, he was pronounced dead. Buboy was beside himself. He did not know what to do without his friend. Marcelo’s students said that the dog would return to campus on a daily basis. Buboy spent a lot of time hanging around the faculty room.

It was clear to see that the dog was hoping to catch a glimpse of his beloved professor. Ma Kristina Paola Demafelix is the colleague who noticed the dog’s behavior initially. It made her sad to see him suffering like this. The poor dog did not have the ability to comprehend what had happened. There was no way for him to express his sad feelings, either.

The dog decided that he would patiently wait for Marcelo’s return. After a awhile, Ma Kristina realized that the dog was going to need some form of closure before he could move on. That’s why she decided to take him to the man’s funeral. This would allow him to pay his final respects. Buboy’s reaction was saddening but the fellow mourners gave him plenty of treats and attention.
