Pakita the dog had not seen her family in a very long time. The stray dog had been rescued off the street and brought to a refuge in Argentina. However, potential adopters were not about to take home a dog that had such a sad demeanor. The good people at the Arca Animal Refuge where she stayed knew that she would fight an uphill battle because of her age as well.

The rescue did not lose the faith, though. They continued to post photos of the dog on their social media pages and were quick to point out how kind she was. After two long years of trying to find the dog a home, Pakita’s old family finally came across the photographs of her. Her grandma was the first person to notice her photo and she immediately let her son know that Pakita was still alive and well.

Since Pakita had escaped from her home initially, her family had never stopped their search for her. When her old family came to the shelter to take her home, the old dog was skeptical at first. She is a withdrawn animal by nature who is not prone to bouts of excitement. Once Ariel (the aforementioned son) approached her, all of Pakita’s old memories came flooding back.

She recognized his scent and once she did, all of her feelings changed. Her whole disposition shifted on the drop of a dime. She went from being timid to being full of life. This is one of the most heartwarming reunions that we have ever had the privilege of witnessing. These two are clearly happy to be back in each other’s presence. Pakita may have had a rough go of things, but she is now able to head back home with Ariel.
