Kenzi and Austin Reddick are your normal, everyday couple from North Carolina and while they have been trying to conceive a child for a few years now, they have not seemed to have any luck. They have even tried to use fertility drugs in order to expedite the process and have yet to achieve their desired objective.
Eventually, they began to run out of money and had no way to continue paying for the treatments. While some might suggest that they adopt instead, the reality is that they could not afford to go that route either, since it costs at least $20,000 for a couple to adopt their own baby.
Kenzi started her own Etsy store and her goal was to sell customized coffee cups in order to raise the money she needed. She is a huge fan of the show “Fixer Upper” and some of these coffee cups contained quotes from the program and offered praise to Joanna Gaines, who she calls her spirit animal.
Y'all wanna know what's amazing? GOD IS! He is seriously SO good!! The past week has been a whirlwind to say the least. We were overloaded with orders from @chippergaines awesome post & orders are still coming in!! But we, alongside some awesome friends, worked & got a huge majority DONE (literally an ENTIRE TRUCKBED) to be mailed out today!! We officially can pay for our adoption in FULL!! ??? I can't even put into words how blessed we feel!! #adoptionrocks #bringbabyreddickhome #adoption #adoptionislove #gracewhilewewait #adoptionfundraiser #swallowsgrace #Godissogood
She never could have realized that Chip and Joanna Gaines were also fans of her work. The aforementioned spirit animal mug made its way onto Chip’s Instagram page and he also posted the link to Kenzi’s Etsy, so that others could also purchase the mugs for their own homes.
Once Kenzi received this endorsement, the mugs began to fly off of the shelves at a rate that no one ever could have expected. Within a few weeks of the huge sale that Chip was the catalyst for, the couple welcomed Lane Everett into their home.
This is what Swallows Grace is all about. This is my purpose. I'm finally a mom. Repost @kenzireddick with @repostapp. ・・・ We have longed for years to be able to say and write these words…WE ARE OFFICIALLY PARENTS! Everyone, meet our precious SON, Lane Everett Reddick. Born Monday, February 8th, 2016 at 11:27am. Weighing 5 lbs. 13oz. and 19 inches long! Meeting our sweet boy was by the far the greatest moment of our entire lives. My heart bursts every time I relive the moment I first laid eyes on him, and the first time his eyes looked into mine. We have never loved anything or anyone so much. He has no idea the love he will endure for all the days of his life or how deeply he was prayed for, longed for and wanted. Every moment, every tear, every prayer and every heartbreak was all worth it. We know that God was saving us for this perfect baby boy. That God knew he would need us as much as we need him. This kind of love is a love I dreamed of but was never prepared for. Words just aren't enough for how we truly feel. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support, love and prayers in helping us get to this long-awaited moment of our lives. Please lift up a prayer for our sweet baby bear as he has been moved to the NICU due to some complications we are not able to discuss. He will be okay but he is going to need some additional treatment to allow him to come home with us and we aren't sure when that will be. We are out-of-state and several hours away from our families so please say a prayer for us as we figure out this "parenthood" thing away from home. We will be anxiously awaiting for his health to improve, for the doctors to discharge him, and for the court systems to allow us to leave this state and come home to ours! This adoption journey has been indescribable, challenging, and so rewarding. We have never been happier to have the family we have always dreamed of and our hearts have never been as full as they are now, and will be for the rest of our lives as a Mom & Dad. All glory goes to God for the greatest blessing we have ever known, our son. He is truly an on-time-God. Life will never be the same and I am forever changed because of it.
This story is proof that we never know how far the simplest gestures can travel. If you were touched by this story as much as we were, be sure to pass it along to your closest friends and family members as soon as possible.
