Man Who Works From Home Keeps Naming His Dog ‘Employee Of The Month’

Working from home certainly does come with perks, mostly not having to wake up at an ungodly hour to get ready to go to work. Although the downside is I have so many cute outfits just wasting away in the closet while I rotate out the same 5 pairs of yoga pants. But the best part of working from home is getting to spend a good portion of my day snuggling my little kitty cat. Without her the apartment would feel pretty empty.

Many others that work from home probably understand the loneliness and isolation that can be felt at times, and how a little furry buddy by your side can absolutely help brighten your work day. For Michael Reeg, a distribution sales manager in Georgia, his dog Meeka was essential in helping him ease into his transition of telecommuting.

Meeka has made herself an employee, making her way over to Michael’s home office every day without fail. Even when Michael isn’t there, she will still show up. When Meeka finds the door of the office shut, she doesn’t leave and go curl up in her doggie bed, instead she waits outside the door.

Michael, who works for Accuride International US, told The Dodo, “Transitioning to a home-based position was quite a change, It’s quiet here. You need to get yourself fired up and excited about the day. Having a faithful companion in the office certainly helps.”

“There are times that I’ll even talk to her as I work through a problem or map out a customer solution. I try out my sales pitches and presentations on her. She’s not easily impressed or swayed. All she hears is ‘blah, blah, blah, Meeka’ — but she likes to hear my voice and I love that she pays attention. Having her in my office all day is something that we both look forward to,” he added.

And Meeka’s loyalty has not gone unrecognized. Michael has mad and handed her an Employee of the Quarter Award ever since 2016.

Each award is framed, making for a very inspirational gallery for any corporate canine that is looking to excel in the workplace.

Meeka seems to be the only dog in the house that is looking to built her career though. The other dog in the household, Kya, would much rather chill out and be a lady of leisure.

Michael’s daughter Madison told The Dodo, “I was not surprised at all when my dad first showed me the framed picture of Meeka as Employee of the Quarter because Meeka is very loyal to my dad and his (their) work, I just thought it was hilarious.”

If only everyone could channel Meeka’s work ethic and positive, can-do attitude. We have no doubt that she is going to continue to clean house with her Employee of the Quarter Awards, and who can blame her? She’s such a good girl!
