Men Invite Elderly Widow Eating Alone To Eat With Them

Jamario Howard and some friends were out last week in Lincoln, Alabama, having some dinner at Brad’s Bar-B-Que, when he noticed an old lady sitting on her own.

“My exact thoughts were, ‘Dang, I’d hate to have to eat alone.’ So, after thinking about it a minute I walked over to her and asked if I could sit with her,” Howard said in his Facebook post.

The elderly woman was named Eleanor, and as Howard learned after a few minutes of conversation, she had recently lost her husband, and the next day would have marked their 60th anniversary. Feeling bad for Eleanor, Howard invited her to join him and his two friends, JaMychol Baker and Tae Knight, at their table.

Howard shared photos of the dinner on Facebook, and the post quickly went viral as people shared it more than 43,000 times, and added thousands of comments to it.

In his post Howard explained, “I instantly gave my condolences and asked her to come eat with us, which she was excited to do. The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through. This woman changed my outlook on life and how I look at other people. Everyone has a story so do not judge! And people I can’t stress this enough.”

He gave some words of wisdom at the end of his post saying, “GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!”

So tonight JaMychol Baker Tae Knight and myself went out to eat at this place called Brads in Oxford, and after us…

His post has attracted a lot of positivity and encouraging comments with one user writing, “You are thoughtful, compassionate and a loving soul to notice and act on the needs of a stranger in such a kind and generous way. What the world needs now, is more of this!”

“This is a very heartwarming story. May your kindness and outreach of love to this elderly lady be an example to everyone. You all are to be admired for being gentleman. You all made this lady’s day and something she will never forget. I hope everyone will read your story and do something kind today,” another person added.

It’s small gestures of kindness like this that the world needs more of. Go out and just be kind to others.
