Mom Has ‘Normal’ Delivery Only To Have Doctor Yell Out That She Broke 50-Year Tradition

The birthing process has certainly changed over the years. It used to be a fairly private event but today, people will even bring photographers into the delivery room with them. It captures every moment of the childbirth and provides a lasting memory that the mother will cherish for the rest of her life.

Some births are relatively routine but others can be on the cutting edge. They show just how crazy life can be and the love that is experienced between a mother and child from the moment they are born.

Dara and Eric Crouch wanted to capture those moments so they hired a close family friend, who also happens to be a fantastic photographer. Neely Ker-Fox is known because of her talents in photography throughout her hometown in Georgia. She seems to have a knack for capturing the special moments in life and also was aware of the details surrounding the birth, including the fifty-year ‘tradition’ that followed the Crouch family.

Dara talked about the tradition that was prevalent in the family. Her side of the family had managed to go 50 years without a single birth of a boy. That is why everyone was assuming that her second child would also be a girl.

“I just knew I was having a girl.”

She could sense the gender of the child so she decided not to find out the sex in advance using an ultrasound. When she would talk to anyone about her pregnancy, she would refer to the baby as a girl and there wasn’t a question in her mind that a female was on the way.

The pregnancy went just fine but for some reason or another, people started to have a strange feeling that she might be having a boy. Even Dara was becoming convinced that a boy was on the way. She was in labor for four hours and then the doctor made the announcement everyone was waiting for.

The 50 year cycle was broken. Dara gave birth to a little boy and when she realized what had happened, she couldn’t hold back from letting out a joyful cry. She said:

“Oh my gosh! It’s a boy; I can’t believe it’s a boy!”

Neely’s skills took over and she started capturing the moment with one picture after another. The pictures are sure to be cherished by the entire family for many years.

Their little son, Liam, is now back at home with his big sister and parents. Dara and Eric are thrilled that they broke the family tradition
