One Million Species Are Currently Facing Extinction Because Of Humans

Climate change is a major issue that is affecting all facets of human life. However, there are many who are not aware of the issues that are being caused for our animal friends.

As the human population continues to grow, the strain that is being placed on the planet is undeniable. The recent news that has been shared with the general public is disconcerting.

Did you know that one million animal species are currently facing extinction? We must take the proper steps to avoid this catastrophic event. If we do not make major changes, the environment will never be the same. Humans need to come together to make the necessary changes. It is our fault that these animals find themselves in this predicament in the first place.

The information has been provided by the Intergovernmental Science Policy Platform on Diversity and Ecosystem Services. Over 100 experts from all around the world were asked to write reports on the matter.

This is one of the most comprehensive assessments ever commissioned when it comes to the damage that we are doing to the environment. Other committees are also investigating the matter.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has gotten involved as well. At the present time, we have 12 years to reverse the damages that have been done because of global warming. Humans have had a horrific impact on biodiversity. This is not just a mere buzzword. It is a representation of the variety of life that currently exists on planet Earth.

Amphibian species, marine mammals and coral reefs are all at risk. If we do not change our ways, 30 to 40 percent of these species will be wiped out. The ecosystems that these species rely upon are being damaged at a greater rate than ever before. Transformative changes are needed if the planet is going to be saved. Exploitation of species and alteration of land/sea usage are both to blame.

Let’s all do our part to make the necessary changes, shall we? It is high time that we ceased our selfish behaviors and considered others. Humans are having far too much impact on the course of the planet. Hopefully, these reports will also spur governing bodies into action. The world of politics is paying close attention. This is an issue that is sure to be discussed more openly in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election. In the meantime, please be sure to share away, everyone!
