Shelter Dog Just Hours Away From Being Euthanized Inspires Christmas Miracle

The rescuer in this story knew that they were facing overwhelming odds. They walked into a high kill shelter and hoped to save a life while they were at it. Stanley the dog just so happened to be that special dog. When he first made contact with his new friend, he was so full of mange, he could barely keep his eyes open. He was mere hours from being euthanized.

The rescuer knew that they would have to step in order to save the animal. She decided that she would do everything in her power to help and Stanley was grateful. Cathy pulled him from the shelter and they began the rehab process. She did not know exactly what she was going to do once this step was complete. She just knew that Stanley deserved much better.

Once she posted her full version of the “Just One Dog” video, Stanley started to receive even more attention. The video spread rapidly. As it turns out, her plea did not fall on deaf ears. Respect-A-Bull’s Dave Schofield saw the video and decided that he would also intervene. When he and his wife saw the clip, they knew they had to help.

Cathy received a phone call from Dave on Christmas Day. They raised the money to send Stanley over to Dave and his wife JoAnn and from there, it was time to Stanley to head into foster care. If you would like to see the video that was taken when Stanley first arrived, please be sure to check out the clip below. This is one of the most delightful moments that we have seen in a long time.

Every dog deserves the chance to find a new home, even a dog like Stanley. While a number of people saw his video, the couple that ended up taking him in had never seen the clip once. When Josh and Teresa decided to take Stanley home, it was because they were blown away by his personality. He is a kind and sweet pup. Now, he’ll have the chance to show it.

He’s been living with this loving family for four years now. His stint on death row is nothing but a memory now. Thanks to the help that Respect-A-Bull was able to provide, he has been given the second chance that he so richly deserved. Please share away, everyone!
