When we see the pictures of all the shelter animals who have yet to find a home, it breaks our hearts. How can you not feel for these creatures? Every living creature deserves to find happiness, in our humble opinion. As someone who volunteers as a dog walker on a regular basis, Kayla sees dogs who are in this sort of position all of the time.

She volunteers with the ACCT in Philadelphia. This is a facility that provides shelter to various animals in the area. While the care that she provides is temporary, she aims to make a permanent impact on these animals’ lives. Kayla has seen a lot of dogs come and go in her time. There was just something about Russ that caught her eye, though.

When he first arrived at this location, he was a stray. The dog had clearly seen better days. He was very beat up and was extremely underweight. He only weighed 40 pounds when he first arrived at the shelter. Kayla could tell that Russ had been subjected to a lot of hard times throughout the course of his early life.

She wanted to make his life better in any way that she could. Once she started to spend time with him, she realized that he was truly a sweetheart who just wanted some attention. He is quite the adorable dog. All he needed was a little bit of love. Russ became so attached to Kayla, he would not even move a muscle once she had to go home.

Russ would simply wait in the same spot until she came back. It was clear to see that they were truly in love with one another. After awhile, Kayla knew what she had to do. She contacted her mother and asked her if they could adopt Russ. The shelter needed to find him a home before it was too late and her timing was absolutely impeccable.

Since Russ had contracted kennel cough, he was in danger of being put down. Kayla brought him home as soon as she could and her roommates all fall in love with the dog as well. She and Russ were a perfect pair. He always needs to stay close to her. The following photo went viral and we are screaming with laughter. This is one way to show appreciation.
