Shelter Names Puppies After The ‘Avengers’ To Help Them Get Adopted

The last installment of the avenger series has caused Marvel fans around the world to stream into theaters. Now that the end of an era is coming to a close, many of those fans were left feeling emotional.

There’s a way to fix that.

The best way to fix emotional issues is to grab an adorable rescue puppy. Of course, it helps if they are named after the Avengers.

The staff at Friends Animal Shelter of Cocke County, Tennessee had just such an idea. Nine puppies had shown up at their door on April 26, the same day that the film premiered. Alisha Henry, who is the director of the shelter knew just what to do to help.

They fed the pups (5 boys and 4 girls’ and they all settled down into the same kennel. They had been through a lot but things were now looking up.

“They are just the cutest,” Henry said. “The Avenger puppies were definitely in some dire straits [when they first got here]. They wolfed down four bowls of food before we even vetted them. They were absolutely full of worms and reeked of cigarette smoke. Poor things.”

These pups were superheroes in their own way and they got names to match.

The Avenger puppies have names such as Thor, Iron Man, Antman, and Thanos. The pups will have to have a few more weeks behind them before they can be adopted but interested families can begin to fill out applications. It is also hoped that the superhero names will be kept.

Stan Lee would have ordered it.

“Okoye and Carol Danvers have been adopted,” Henry said. “So we still have seven more that desperately need loving homes.”
