Soldier Is Worried The Dog He Saved In Iraq Won’t Remember Him, Then The Cage Opens

Nick Pierzchalski is a soldier who has sacrificed a great deal for his country. As a Florida Army National Guard Blackhawk pilot, he was responsible for the transportation of soldiers that were wounded in the line of duty. This is a crucial responsibility and it is one that he takes with the utmost level of seriousness. He saved a number of lives along the way. There was one life that was a bit different from the rest, though.

He stumbled onto a lost dog while he was stationed in Iraq. Nick gave an interview to a Tampa news station about the meeting. The dog had run right up to him and his group. It was clear to see that they would all be pals. They became friends instantly and the group enjoyed the much-needed boost to morale. It helps to have friends at times like these.

Even our bravest soldiers find themselves in need of companionship when they are fighting for our freedom. The dog was renamed Airys and Nick built her a kennel so that she could stay in their hangar. She remained by their sides for the rest of the time that they were in Iraq. Once Nick finished his tour of duty, he returned to Florida.

Sadly, Airys could not come with him. Nick and Airys may have never seen each other again but SPCA International and Operation Baghdad Pups decided to intervene. This organization offered their help and the two were able to meet again. They made the arrangements for Airys to be taken back to Florida. The ensuing reunion was a tearjerker.

Fox News provided the coverage and we are more than happy to share it with our readers. Airys clearly remembers her friend well. She runs right up to him, just like she did the first time that they met. Nick gives her a big hug and you can hear the emotion in his voice when they meet. Thanks to the good folks at SPCA International and Operation Baghdad Pups, this reunion was made possible.

Nick cannot thank them enough for their assistance. Seeing a pup and her owner get reunited like this is enough to touch anyone’s heart. Airys will now get to enjoy her new life in Florida. If you would like to see this heartwarming reunion for yourself, take a moment to check out this awesome video. Be sure to share it with your friends and loved ones as well!
