The ‘Food Cubby’ Is Available For People Who Don’t Like It When Their Food Touches

My sister recently sent me a picture of a meal that she made for her family. It included a close-up of her dinner plate. The food was beautiful but there was a problem; all of the food was overlapping on the plate! Instantly, I thought that the beautiful meal was a lot less palatable because I never allow my food to touch.

If you fall into this category or if you know somebody who likes to keep their food separated, there is a gadget you need to have right away. It is the Food Cubby, a silicone divider that keeps all of your food compartmentalized on the plate. It’s great for kids and for adults!

You can purchase a two pack on Amazon. They stick to the plate with suction and are easily removed so the plate won’t be damaged. Not only do they keep the food separate on the plate, but they also provide a solid edge so that you can easily push the food onto your utensil and keep your fingers clean in the process.

If you happen to have any runny foods, syrup or sauces on your plate, they will stay in their place and play nicely with the other foods. You don’t have to worry about any of the rest of your food getting soggy or adulterated with the taste of the food nearby on the plate.

Perhaps one of the more interesting things about this invention is the fact that it is the brainchild of a child. You might even say that it was created by children, for children. Then again, adults love these as well.

The website description reads: “Good for special needs, elderly, vision impaired, and occupational therapy needs at meal time. The Food Cubby was created by a kid inventor!”

You might even suffer from a condition, known as brumotactillophobia. It is a type of phobia that can lead to picky eating and can even be a form of mild OCD. It typically causes people to eat the food on their plate in a particular order and to keep the food from touching each other. Most people who suffer from this condition do well with a divided plate or multiple plates.

Even if you are not suffering from brumotactillophobia, there are many reasons to keep your food separate. It could be keeping the different textures of foods in line or perhaps not allowing the flavors to mingle. Perhaps you just want to control your dinner plate and there is certainly nothing wrong with that!

You might not like looking at food that has been mixed or you don’t like the way it feels or tastes. If you happen to be in that category, this is an invention you will appreciate.

Reviewers say that the dividers come off of the plate easily without damaging it. They also mentioned that it is great for portion control because they each hold 1/2 cup of food. You can put them in the dishwasher and they don’t contain BPA.

Going out to eat? Why not bring the Food Cubby with you? You can even buy extra and keep them at your house to put a big smile on the face of your visitors when you have them over for dinner. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
