Hairdressers and barbers are right up there with doctors in that they hold one of our most precious asset in their hands: our hair. A bad haircut can completely ruin someone’s day, depending on how badly it turns out.

In August of last year, 22-year-old Lucy Burrows learned how much power over one’s hair a stylist actually has when she received a very bad haircut. She claims that the butchered job has left her confidence circulating the toilet.

Lucy, from Swindon, UK, had gone into Barber n’ Bar in Cheltenham with an Instagram photo of what she wanted: a trendy, undercut hair tattoo for her long hair.

Unfortunately she ended up paying £20 for a set of uneven lines that didn’t remotely resemble what she wanted. She was left upset and with her confidence shattered.

“They absolutely destroyed my hair and confidence and I couldn’t even go to work because of this,” Lucy said.

Lucy, who works as a sales account manager, claims that the salon wouldn’t acknowledge the mistake until she created a fuss. Only then was she refunded her £20, as well as an additional 10 “for her upset”.

Lucy says it’s only recently that her hair has begun to recover from the cut she received back in August.

“I still can’t wear my hair up at all and it looks so bad and messy,” she said. “You can’t tell as much anymore but it still feels very thin to me.”

“After a long argument, the hairdressers admitted they did do it to me and sent back £30 but I am still half bald which obviously isn’t great,” she added.

She isn’t the only one who has suffered at the hands of a hairstylist. Only last month another story went viral of a guy in China who ended up with a massive triangle shaved into his head. He had a similar story to Lucy as in he went with a picture of what he wanted but came out embarrassed.

Now I’m glad I never went for an undercut. Anyone else have awful hair stories to share?
