Dogs who are born with disabilities tend to struggle to live a normal life. Most would be adopters will simply pass them over without a second thought. This is the story of one such dog. A farmer brought a litter of puppies into the world and one of them was in dire straits. The puppy had a deformed leg. It looked like this dog was never going to find their own forever home.

Fortunately, a hero came along at this time. It all started when the farmer decided to take off for work without bringing his pal Dolly. She had begun to put on some weight and the farmer had become concerned. He did not have time to tend to her that day, though. Once he came home, he was greeted by a major surprise. Dolly had some company over!

He saw four tiny puppies sitting next to her. All of a sudden, her weight gain made total sense. While the farmer does not consider himself to be a terribly sentimental person, there was something about these puppies that moved him. He soon noticed that one of the puppies had a deformed leg. He worried that the animal would not be able to live a very happy life.

The farmer assisted Dolly with her puppies as best he could, though. Before long, it would be time for these animals to find homes of their own. He decided that he would find them homes the old fashioned way. He was not going to use social media. He simply nailed a sign into the front yard and decided to wait. Little did he know what would happen next.

As soon as he began to pound the nails, he felt the tug of a small child. A little boy had stopped by to check out the puppies. The farmer let him know that these dogs were of a certain pedigree. He may not have been able to afford one. When the boy pointed to the dog with the deformed leg, the farmer chuckled. He did not know that the boy identified with the puppy in a very special way.

He rolled up his pant leg, showing the farmer his metal leg braces. It would not be a problem for him to spend time with this dog. They were kindred spirits.
