HGTV Is Looking For Families To Be On The Reboot Of ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’

If you miss Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, you won’t have to miss it for very long. It’s on its way back and is casting families for the next string of episodes.

The home renovation series is being revived by HDTV with brand-new episodes. And if that isn’t enough to make you happy, 100 of the original episodes are also going to be included for those who want a little nostalgia.

In order to prepare for the new version of the show, the crew is casting new families. They are looking for “people who deserve a new place to live and who have uplifting, inspirational stories that must be told.”

In the original series, the focus was put on families who would give back to the community and a similar format will be followed in the new series.

There is an application available that can be filled out online if you are interested. You can select your family or even nominate another family. It will be necessary for you to give an explanation as to why they should be given the new home.

In addition, the new series does not require people to have a home in the first place to qualify for a new home. Even people who rent or are interested in relocating can fill out an application.

The premiere of the new series will occur in early 2020 on HDTV.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was around before Fixer Upper. It was on from 2003-2012 on ABC.

Ty Pennington was the host of the original season and a number of notable designers and carpenters were part of the team, such as Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis, Michael Moloney, and Ed Sanders. They would help to rebuild houses for families that were in need.

The producers would handpick the families, typically because of the way that they give back to the community. They also had to be in a position where they really needed a makeover of their home.

The show may have been off the air for years but next year, it’s making a comeback. You can find it on HDTV this time.

Now that HDTV is casting families for the series, it wants to find “people who deserve a new place to live and who have uplifting, inspirational stories that must be told.”

It was always difficult to choose from among the many applicants and that is likely to be a problem this time as well.

Don’t let that deter you from filling out an application. You might just end up with your dream home if you are selected.

You can use the online form to apply. A separate form is also available if you would like to nominate a family.

Even renters will qualify for a new home in the updated series. You don’t have to own a home to receive a home.

The application will take some time and effort to fill out but considering that there is a house at stake, it may be well worth it.

A two-minute casting video may also be considered if you want to include it.

The announcement was made on social media and fans were quick to make suggestions for the cities where the filming would take place.

This included the area that was devastated by the recent California wildfires, such as Paradise.

Other areas where natural disasters occurred have also been put on the table for consideration, such as Nebraska and Alabama. Other people suggested rebuilding homes for veterans.

Even if your home is not in need of being rebuilt, you can still get involved. Contact them if you have a talent that would allow you to help rebuild the homes. This could include architects, landscapers, and DIY specialists.

Calling all designers, carpenters, professional landscapers, architects, and more: do you have what it takes to be…

“Probably won’t be the same but I was lucky enough to help build a house,” one commenter wrote on Facebook. “Awesome experience!”

The chief lifestyle brands officer for Discovery, Kathleen Finch had the following to say: “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is such an iconic show. It’s an emotional story centered around a house. There is real drama, and real stakes around a home being rebuilt.”

There will be 10 episodes in the revival series so 10 families will be getting a new dream house. HDTV still needs to provide more details.

Ty Pennington goes through the remains of Mizzy's home.

You also be able to binge watch because they are airing some 100 existing episodes from the early series.

Interested families can complete an application online (or nominate another family), explaining why they deserve a new house.
