UPS Driver Adopts Pit Bull That ‘Always Gives Her Kisses’ On Her Route After Dog’s Owner Dies

Katie Newhouser works for UPS and services the Rancho Cucamonga, California area. Like most drivers of her ilk, she comes across the same dogs on an everyday basis. Leo became one of her favorites. The friendly pitbull loves to come greet her and he will even jump into the truck if she allows him to. The pictures that they have taken together are just too cute.

The UPS Dogs page on Facebook is a great place for those who are looking to see all of the pictures that are taken by happy drivers. Once Leo’s owner passed away, the family did not know what would become of the dog. Unfortunately, Leo’s mother was not able to make arrangements ahead of time. Her son is a Marine and so he was also unable to take Leo with him.

Katie did not want the dog to be taken to any sort of shelter. When she spoke to the son about taking him in, he readily agreed. The last step was taking him home to make sure that he would get along with all of her dogs. As it turns out, she had absolutely nothing to worry about. Leo was a big hit. The other dogs loved his company and they were happy to have him at their home.

“It was probably confusing for him at first, but he’s adapted well,” says Katie. Moose has become his best bud and the two brothers are now inseparable. It took some time for Leo to get acclimated to his new home. Katie says that he was a bit of a whiner at first. This is certainly understandable. The poor fellow was still in the grieving process.

He is the sort of dog who comes across as almost human. He’s got so much personality to offer and we are glad to see that he has been given a second chance. There are simply too many dogs like him who are left to fend for themselves in shelters because their owners no longer care. It is great to see someone who is willing to step up to the plate like this.

There are not many people out there who would have the heart to take in a dog that they only know in passing. This is the sort of adoption story that definitely tugs at our heartstrings. Please take a moment to share it with all of the animal lovers that you know.
