There are many products in our home that we wouldn’t want to live without. They are convenient when it is time to use them but sometimes, there may be other ways to use them that you may never have considered possible. That is the case with Vicks Vaporub, a product that you probably have in your medicine cabinet right now.

Most people use Vicks when they have a cold to relieve congestion. The methylated action certainly does work in that regard, and I can’t tell you how many stuffy noses I have treated with a smear of Vicks on my chest or perhaps even under my nose. The fact of the matter is, however, it helps in many different ways. Here are some that you may never have thought about before:

1. Pet Training

It can be frustrating when you bring a new dog into the home. It seems as if they just want to go to the bathroom everywhere but Vicks VapoRub may help. Just put some in the places where they tend to relieve themselves and you will be halfway there.

Veterinarians say that both dogs and cats hate the smell of this ointment. Having some in the area reminds them that what they are doing is wrong. In addition, you can use Vicks to keep your cat from scratching up your furniture. Put it near the area where they like to scratch and they will stay away.

2. Care for your feet

The moisturizing effect of Vicks VapoRub is very beneficial for dry and cracked skin, which is common on the feet. Rub some ointment on your heels before you go to bed and in the morning, wash them with cold water.

3. Stretch Marks and Wrinkles

Massaging the ointment into the area with stretch marks or wrinkles once daily can make a difference. You should see them slowly disappear within a couple of weeks.

4. Bruising

Massage some of this ointment along with salt onto the bruised skin. The color and swelling will begin to disappear quickly.

5. Acne

Put some Vicks on your pimples before you go to sleep at night. Wash your face in the morning and repeat until the problem is gone.

If you have already been bitten by bugs, spread some on the itchy areas. Since Vicks VapoRub has antiseptic properties, it will help to reduce the itching and prevent infection.

8. Crying

Sometimes it may be a good idea to have a good cry. This is especially true if you get something in your eye and you are having a difficulty clearing it. You can put a little VapoRub under the eyes and before long, the tears will wash the problem away.

9. Heals Cuts

In a similar way to how Vicks VapoRub heals bruises, the menthol in the ointment can also help to heal cuts quickly.

10. Fat loss

Would you like to get rid of some belly fat quickly and easily? When you rub Vicks VapoRub with camphor, baking soda, and alcohol, it creates a cream that will burn fat effortlessly.

11. Toenail fungus

When you have toenail fungus, you might feel as if you have to go to the doctor to get a prescription but that isn’t true. You can save time and money by putting some Vicks on the nail.

Adding a little Vicks vapor rub to a humidifier can help to freshen up your home and remove bad odors. Add more as the scent fades.

14. Sort muscles

Rub some Vicks vapor rub onto your sore muscles and enjoy the refreshing break. You may need to massage it in for at least a minute or two but the difference can be felt very quickly.

15. Door hinges

Do you have squeaky door hinges in the home? Rub Vicks on to them and they will operate smoothly with no noise. As an added benefit, they smell great.
