After Her Fiance Passed Away, Woman Still Has A “Wedding” And The Photos May Leave You In Tears

Jessica and Kendall were like any other couple. They met, fell in love and dreamed of a life together. The Indiana couple was ready to tie the knot when disaster struck. Kendall worked as a volunteer firefighter in the area and was killed instantly when he was struck by a drunk driver. The fellow firefighter who was responsible for the accident was driving with a blood alcohol level that was far above the state’s legal limit.

Jessica was left to pick up the pieces after his death and the process has not been easy. She decided that she was not going to allow her wedding day to be spoiled for any reason. When the big day finally arrived, she still wanted to put on her wedding dress and take photos. Her mother Katrina was responsible for asking the photographer to save the date anyways.

She thought that this would allow her daughter to process the grief that she was dealing with so that she could work through the sadness. There were a number of interesting touches added to the proceedings. This is one family that was determined to rally around their grieving loved one. A bouquet of sunflowers was placed inside of Kendall’s cowboy boots and the photo might make you shed a tear.

The boots came with a card attached as well. The card was “from” Kendall and let her know that he would always be her guardian angel. The local community had written Jessica several letters during the grieving process and the stack was so tall, Jessica said that it would have taken her months to read them. The outcome was not what she wanted but she definitely felt the love.

Kendall’s best man and Jessica’s maid of honor gave speeches that made it difficult for any of the attendees to compose themselves. While Jessica did not get to walk down the aisle with the man of her dreams, she was still able to enjoy a wedding day that was full of love and healing. Posting the pictures on social media has been helpful for the healing process.

She has received a number of kind words and while social media can be a cesspool at times, we are glad to see that people are taking the time to offer encouragement. This is the type of tragedy that forever changes a person’s life. We wish Jessica all of the best going forward and hope that she is able to find the peace of mind that she deserves.
