If you have a special animal in your life, you realize how much emotion they bring to the table. It just seems as if they manage to come into our lives and wrap themselves around our heart before we even know what happens. For most of us, this describes the relationship we have with a beloved cat or dog but even animals that are not typically domesticated can fall into that category.
For Wagner Lima, a 34-year-old Paraguay cowboy, it was a horse that was so special to him. They were rarely ever far from each other but that changed when Wagner died in 2017. He was in Brazil and passed away as a result of a motorcycle accident.
His beloved horse, Sereno meant so much to him. In fact, when he died, Wagner’s brother, Wando did not hesitate to have the horse take part in the funeral. He knew that the horse belonged by his side, just like all of the other family members and friends that gathered for the occasion.
“This horse was everything to him,” he said. “It was as if the horse knew what was happening and wanted to say goodbye.”
His brother led an emotional march through the city of Cajazeiras, Brazil to Wagner’s final resting place. Sereno was right there with him but when the horse got close enough to the casket that he could smell his departed owner, he did something that is sure to touch your heart.
