Ron is a homeless man who walks the Salt Lake City streets. While most homeless people would be forgiven for putting themselves first, Ron is simply not that type of person. When he saw something awful taking place, he was not afraid to intervene and this is what makes him such a special human being. He saw a woman whip a small dog out of a moving car.

The Chihuahua was tossed out onto a busy freeway. The woman who committed this unspeakable act clearly had no regard for the animal’s health or well being. Ron was ready to help at a moment’s notice. He removed the dog from the danger. The dog was wrapped up in a blanket and taken away from the oncoming traffic before something truly terrible could take place.

A woman noticed Ron’s good deed and saw the dog all bundled up along with him. Angel was amazed by the level of kindness that he displayed. Once she started to talk to Ron, she learned more about the act that he had witnessed. When she heard about his willingness to help the dog in need, she was absolutely blown away by his level of compassion.

Ron is also someone who can relate to being without a home. He did not want the dog to be without a home and he asked Angel if she would be willing to help the dog he saved to find a forever home. Of course, she was ready to assist him and she was touched by his selfless nature. Angel went home and posted about the encounter on her Facebook nature.

Her friend Kathleen shared the post and from there, one of their other friends stepped forward to claim the dog. When the woman went to pick up the dog, she asked Ron if he would be willing to accept 50 dollars as a reward for looking after the Chihuahua. Of course, Ron declined the offer. He was just happy that the dog would be able to avoid homelessness.
The dog’s new mother is named Lisa and she dubbed the dog Lucky Louie. A Go Fund Me was also set up in Ron’s name. The women did not want him to be left behind and wanted to help him get back onto his feet. Over $7,000 was raised in hopes of assisting Ron. Ron deserves the same second chance that Lucky Louie has received and we wish him all of the best!
UPDATE WITH RON: Met with Ron tonight to give him all the money that was donated. I wish i could have got his original reaction because he was seriously freaking out, crying, and kept saying, "Are you sure this is for me!? From who, from who!? Who would do this for me!!?? For a homeless man!!??" I told him it was from the community, giving back because they were inspired by him and want to make sure he has a happy ending just like that dog that he saved from getting hit by a car and found a good warm home for. He said multiple times people have loaded up all his belongings in a truck and drove off with it. That people usually call him horrible names, so he just couldn't believe it. He looked through the envelope like 10 times because he really couldn't believe it. He said he promises that he will not let us down!! He was like, "This man isn't sleeping on the street tonight!!!" Then the second thing he said he was going to do was to go to get a phone so he can stay connected. I have literally never seen anyone so excited in my life and shed a couple tears myself, seriously a million dollar response. He wanted to donate some of it for food for the dog, I told him we got it under control. All of you are soooo amazing. You gave him the will to fight the good fight. Keeping the go fund me up for a little bit longer in case anyone anyone wants to donate. Not every day you get to hand a homeless man $400 plus dollars, thanks everyone!
