Those of us who are fortunate enough to work at a location that allows us to bring our dogs can already speak to how awesome these places can be. It is definitely nice to have our dogs with us. Leaving them in a crate all day can be kind of sad. Pet-friendly workspaces are not the norm….even though they should be!
Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of a dog friendly workplace, shall we? Perhaps this will inspire some companies to make the necessary changes….
Better Job Performance
An employee is always going to work harder when they have the chance to bring their dogs along for the ride. While some might think that it would be a major distraction to have dogs at the workplace, the owner is saved from having to handle various dog related errands throughout the day. If a dog owner does not have to worry about their pooch, they are more likely to remain on the premises until all of the work is done.
Decreased Stress
No matter how simple a job may seem, there is still going to be stress to deal with. Having your dog with you just might help with that. Therapy dogs are great but even dogs that are untrained can still help people with their anxiety. Seeing a dog close by just makes us feel more at ease.
A Better Company Image
Companies that are looking to become more popular may decide to become pet friendly. This is certainly understandable. Even those who do not have dogs of their own can enjoy these sorts of policies. We can all benefit from having dogs in our midst. They provide a certain sense of calm that we cannot receive anywhere else.
More Employee Interaction
Let’s face it. Most of us are simply going to work to pick up a paycheck and then go back home to our dogs or loved ones. This is a common mindset and it is what gets us through our days. When dogs are present, this forces employees to spend more time with each other. Team unity is strengthened when we are around each other more. Any company that does not have strong communication among different departments should definitely consider becoming dog friendly.
More Healthy Breaks
It is not good for an employee to spend their whole day in front of the computer. They need regular breaks, so that they are not putting themselves at risk of burning out. Employees work much harder when they are able to take breaks as needed. What better way to pass the time than by walking a dog?
Did this list touch your heart like it did ours? Be sure to pass it along to your friends and loved ones today!
