Terry Crews nominates himself to play King Triton in ‘Little Mermaid’ live-action remake


Earlier this week the news emerged regarding the upcoming live-action Disney of “The Little Mermaid” remake, and how it had already cast its lead, with actress and singer Halle Bailey being named as the new Ariel. The movie is set to be directed by Rob Marshall, who chose Halle Bailey for the titular role following an extensive search.

“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice,” the director released in a statement, “all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”

The news was initially not well received. However, life moves on and the casting is not complete yet. There are rumors currently circulating that Melissa McCarthy is in talks to play the role of Ursula.

Following this news, fans began to share on social media who they felt should join the cast, with lots of opinions as to who should have the role of Prince Eric. Many felt that Harry Styles should be the one getting the role.

In addition to that, there have been many fans that are deadest on Idris Elba taking on the role of King Triton.

Jumping on the bandwagon with many others suggesting their picks for roles in the upcoming underwater rendition, Crews took to Twitter to nominate himself for the role of King Triton, posting a hilarious Photoshop picture of himself as King Triton, along with the message: “Ariel’s Dad!!!!  #ArielsGotTerry#AmericasGotTerry”

There was plenty of support that got behind the Brooklyn 99 actor’s casting pitch.
