Marty is a tow truck driver by trade. He was off in the California hills on a job when he came across the strangest sight. There was something waiting for him on the road ahead. As he got closer, he soon realized that he was about to collide with a dog. Initially, he believed that the animal was lost but a closer examination revealed that the dog had a collar.

When he tried to lure the dog closer, the animal would not budge. Once Marty stopped his truck and turned off the engine, he would realize why the animal remained so still. Someone was calling out for help. Marty followed the noise. Paul is the dog’s owner and he had fallen down. He slid down an embankment and was not able to rescue himself from this predicament.

Paul had been in this situation for seven hours and the dog was not going to leave his side. If Marty had not come along, who knows what might have happened? Paul’s home was just a mile away from the spot where he fell and with a little bit of help, he would be back where he needed to be in no time. A second dog was guarding the man so that Marty could not approach.

Marty called 911 and went to the man’s house to let his wife know what had taken place. The dogs did their best to hold down the fort until help arrived but there is only so much that they are able to do. We are sure that the dogs would have been more than happy to pick up the phone and call for help if they had the ability to do so.

In the meantime, they made sure that Paul remained protected and we commend these animals for their loyalty. Once Marty told Paul’s wife what had happened, she took care of the rest. Stories like these are a reminder of the importance of family. If not for Paul’s dogs and the assistance of his wife, he may have remained trapped for a much longer period of time.
