Dog Who Waited 1,145 Days For A Home Was Returned To The Shelter

Geronimo the dog has had a tough go of things. He was taken away from his home back in 2015 after a neighbor took notice of the deplorable conditions he was living in. The poor creature had been locked outside in the snow. The rescuers could not believe that he was still alive. They knew that they had to work quickly if he was going to be able to make it.

The Humane Society of Summit County just so happened to step in. They arrived in the nick of time and provided Geronimo with the housing he needed. He would no longer have to sleep in a crate in the snow. The poor little fellow was also suffering from a litany of health conditions. Geronimo had a heart worm infection that needed to be treated right away.

He was also suffering from knee and leg issues because he had been left to live in a crate for so long. Geronimo needed time to recover from all of the problems that he was experiencing. Finally, the Humane Society of Summit County was able to put him up for adoption. A loving family took him home and all seemed to be well. Sadly, they were forced to bring him back.

The match was not good. He has now spent over 1,000 days at the same shelter. The shelter workers definitely want him to find a new home but they also want to be more sure this time. If the match is not perfect, they do not plan to let him go. This handsome boy needs a home and he needs to know that he is always going to be taken care of, no matter what.

An adult only home would be best. While we are certainly bummed out that he had to come back to the shelter, this is merely a minor setback. We are fully confident in his ability to find a home. He will make a great addition to any home where he is allowed to be the only baby of the household. The shelter is determined to wait for that perfect match to come along.

If you would like to help Geronimo find a forever home of his own, please be sure to share this story with your closest friends and loved ones. Those who have useful information regarding a potential forever home for Geronimo are urged to contact the Humane Society of Summit County immediately.
