As anyone who has ever had the dreaded Sunday craving for Chik-Fil-A can tell you, there is nothing quite like the disappointment that we feel when we cannot have our favorite foods. While their awesome fare definitely sticks out in our memories and they have some of the best food in the country, they also adhere to a very important rule: they do not open on Sundays.
The owners of this franchise are devoutly religious and while they could make a small fortune if Chik-Fil-A remained open seven days a week, their beliefs come first. They do not wish to make their employees choose between working and worshiping. Truett Cathy is the owner of this franchise and he is not willing to bend this principle for any reason.
However, there are some who believed that they might make an exception for Super Bowl Sunday. After all, this is one of the biggest days of the year, especially when it comes to fast food. Who wants to spend the day cooking when they could be watching football and enjoying time with friends instead? Even the location next to the stadium will remain closed, though.
Jonathan Hollis is the operator of the franchise located near the Atlanta stadium where the game will be played. He says that the company is not worried about the loss of business. Those who are wondering if there is ANY event that would cause the company to open on a Sunday are going to be glad to hear the following news, though.
If there are emergencies that require the fast food franchise to open its door, the Sunday rule is put on hold. When travelers were stranded at an airport in Atlanta on Sunday after a power failure took place, Chik-Fil-A stepped up to the plate. The same goes for the tornadoes that took place in the city of Dallas back in 2015. We are glad to see that they are willing to bend the rules every once in a while.
We do have one minor bone to pick. While some might not see a craving for fried chicken during the Super Bowl as a true emergency, we are hoping that the restaurant operators change their mind over the next couple of weeks.
