Couple Rescues Over 300 Senior Shelter Dogs In Loving Memory Of Their Dog

The friendships that we have with dogs are life changing. For most of us dog owners, it can be tough to remember what life was like before our friends came along. They are some of the most caring and compassionate creatures on the planet. Moses is a special dog, even by those standards, though. Can you believe that he changed hundreds of lives during his short time on the planet?

Chris and Mariesa Hughes loved Moses from the first time that they saw him. When he first came into their lives, he had been residing at the Seminole County Animal Shelter.

The senior animal had already been living there a bit too long. Elderly dogs like Moses often struggle to find proper homes. It is tough for aged animals to receive the same attention as their younger counterparts.

Mariesa first saw the dog on Facebook. The shelter knew that they would not be able to house him much longer. That’s why they posted a picture of him wearing a tie.

They figured that the little gentleman would have some appeal to would be owners. Since this was the first thing that Mariesa noticed, it turns out that they were 100 percent correct.

The Hughes family gave him a home and saved him from this predicament. What they did not realize was that the dog would soon become an integral part of their family unit.

He had been looking for a family like this one for so long. Mariesa had already started a rescue group and he fit in right away. It only took a few weeks before she realized that he would never leave.

Poor Moses was only able to reside with the family for two years, though. His health would soon fail him. He was diagnosed with a inoperable spinal cord tumor and the family did not know what to do.

Once he passed on, he left a Moses shaped hole in their hearts. At this time, Chris and Mariesa decided that they would foster hundreds of senior dogs, as a means of paying homage to Moses.

This idea was a crazy one. The financial costs would be significant. Luckily, the Mr. Mo Project decided to pitch in and provide them with the funds necessary to maintain all of these senior dogs.
