All three of my dogs experienced health problems at an early age. My first dog, Lucy, had thyroid problems and died at the age of 9. The second, FuFu, lost all her vitality by the age of 5 and my last dog, Clyde, developed cataracts around the age of 1. Sadly, FuFu and Clyde both died when they were 11-years-old.
The truth is that I was responsible for killing my dogs slowly (Which I consider my family) with harmful ingredients and fillers. I used to be just like you and fed my dogs those “premium” dry food brands, but then I looked at the “ingredients”:
I couldn’t believe what I was reading (Nor could I pronounce any of it)! Dog food may legally contain “4-D” meat: meat from dead, dying, diseased and disabled animals. Add a little road kill, mill floor sweepings labeled as grain, and corn contaminated with high levels of pesticide (yes, really) and you have a recipe for an extremely unhealthy dog. The cheaper the food, the cheaper the ingredients, the worse the nutrition.
Since getting a new puppy, I have been doing tons of research in trying to find a healthier way to feed my dog. My husband’s friend is a certified canine nutritionist and recommended that I try Ollie.
What is Ollie?
In the same way that disease statistics are rising among humans at an alarming rate, instances of diabetes, cancer, and liver failure in pets are becoming more and more common. The secret to giving your dog a long, happy, and healthy life doesn’t come in a pill bottle – it comes in a cardboard box, delivered fresh every two weeks.
There are several pet food manufacturers out there who offer fresh and frozen raw dog food formulas, but Ollie takes things to the next level by customizing their meals using specific information about your dog such as breed, activity level, and age. Says co-founder Alex Douzet, “we understand the dog… and we have an algorithm that will calculate daily calorie needs and match that to the type of food we send”.
Ollie makes dog food with real ingredients – human-grade meats, fruits and veggies. All you have to do is answer a couple questions and Ollie will tailor your dog’s unique recipe. It’s kind of like “Blue Apron” but for your dog.
The food is portioned into these super convenient trays that are measured for your dog’s exact serving-size needs, sealed and shipped out on ice packs. Once in the refrigerator, the trays of food will stay fresh for up to two weeks if unopened, and five days after being opened. (They can also be stored in the freezer to extend shelf life.)
Not only are Ollie’s products delivered fresh which negates the need for artificial preservatives, but their food is so carefully formulated and nutritious that it requires a minimal amount of synthetic supplements to meet AAFCO base requirements.
For first time subscribers, you’ll get this welcome kit. It includes a portion scoop, a “fresh top” lid to reseal your food trays, probiotic supplements, and an information booklet.
My dog Lucy loved the taste of Ollie! She ate every bit of it, including the peas. The crumbly texture of the food was good, in that it slowed her down a bit, and when served in a bowl, it prevented her from downing the entire serving as a single slab. I also liked the fact that the food doesn’t smell like dog food – the beef formulation could be kept in our regular fridge without posing any issues.
Like people, dogs are what they eat. Save your dog a lot of suffering, and SAVE YOURSELF A FORTUNE in vet bills, by making the switch to Ollie. Take two minutes and give your dog food that helps them live a happier and healthier life!
