Pit bulls always seem to get a bad rap. For whatever reason, people allow themselves to believe that they are problematic dogs that will eventually maul everyone around them. In reality, a pit bull is just like any other breed of dog. It is their environment and upbringing that determines their personality. There is no inherent danger in owning a pit bull, no matter what the naysayers may tell you.
This Ohio family is a prime example of this lesson in action. Adore-a-Bull is located in the Cincinnati area and they find homes for pit bulls like Ember. When she was adopted by the family in this story, they never could have guessed just how useful her services would end up being. She developed a particularly close bond with their son, a ten-year-old named Tre.
Ember would park herself at the foot of his bed faithfully. She was not about to let anyone catch her off guard. One night, the dog began to make noises that were out of the ordinary. Tracy, Tre’s mother, says that the dog was grumbling. As it turns out, Ember saved the day. Tre was having a seizure and needed his parents’ help.
He was taken to the hospital immediately. Fortunately, he was able to go home after receiving treatment. Ember did not leave his side at any point. She did not need any special training to help her friend, either. The family says that she acted purely on her own loving instincts. They are sharing this story in hopes of changing opinions on this breed of dog.
Pit bulls are as loving and caring as they come and it is time for people to know that. Ember is now receiving the necessary training to become a full-fledged service dog. Tre’s parents will never, ever have to worry about his well being as long as she’s around. They even entered Ember in a Petco holiday wish campaign. Wouldn’t you know it, she took home a $10,000 prize.
The prize was won on behalf of Adore-a-Bull and those who are looking to help this fine organization should definitely take the time to pass this story along.
