Stories like this one will never fail to make us sad. Dogs are not supposed to be treated like this. When you take a dog home with you, this is supposed to be the beginning of a lasting partnership. His family decided that they no longer needed to have him around because they were on the verge of having a baby. This is the sort of heartless behavior that leaves us shaking our heads. Once Rocco was dropped off at Dallas Animal Services, he did not know what to do with himself. This is understandable. He was just three years old at the time.
This is the only life that he had ever known. He did not know what he had done to upset his family but he was definitely bummed out about what had taken place. Once a video clip was shot of the sad dog, people began to reach out. They wanted to learn more about his story. She serves as a foster parent to dogs who are in need of homes in the Dallas area. As soon as she saw the footage of poor Rocco, she knew that she would need to help him, too. She came to his aid without so much as a moment of hesitation. When she saw how little he had been given to eat, her heart broke. No dog should ever be tossed aside like this.
We understand that this family had a newborn baby to consider but what did Rocco do to deserve such a thing? Rocco was not supposed to be as small as he was. He was at least 30 pounds underweight when he was first found. Clearly, this family was not very good at taking care of him. Perhaps the abandonment could become a blessing in disguise?
An Instagram account was started on his behalf as his new foster mother looked to find him a forever home. In the meantime, be sure to share this story with your friends and loved ones.
