Blood is always going to be thicker than water. This is one of the truest statements of all time. This story proves that the opposite can be true, too. Sometimes, our family members come from places that we do not expect. Take this dog, for instance. An Oklahoma man who resides in Bethel Acres recently passed away due to a fatal heart attack.
While most would expect for the man’s dog to have run off and found a new life without him, nothing could have been further from the truth. The Labrador retriever that was eventually found on the scene was getting up there in age themselves. Sam wanted to know what had happened to her pal Arthur. She was going to remain by the man’s side until he got the answer that he needed.
This is a prime example of the loyalty that dogs can display. Phillip Gordon was a friend of theirs and he says that the two were essentially inseparable. They were best pals and Sam did not know what to do without her friend. Even when Arthur would leave the house, Sam would sit by the window and wait for him to come home. This is the kind of loyalty that brings tears to a person’s eyes.
Sam knew that Arthur’s health was not in a good place. Dogs have an innate way of knowing when their humans aren’t well. Once the man was taken to the hospital, Sam missed him dearly. In fact, she was even willing to jump through a window in order to track him down. That’s what friends are for, of course. Arthur’s doctors did not want him to leave the hospital.

He wanted to make sure that he stayed by Sam’s side, though. Sadly, his heart eventually gave out and now Sam is left to pick up the pieces. There are not too many people out there who are willing to adopt a dog that is getting up there in years. Most people are looking for a puppy to take home instead. 1 Day Ranch has stepped up to the plate.

This rescue organization is happy to provide homes to dogs like Sam. They wanted to make sure that she was able to live out the rest of her days in comfort and dignity.
