Paddleboarding can be a lot of fun. It gives us the chance to explore new surroundings and learn more about the world around us. It also provides an opportunity to get closer to nature. The paddleboarders in this story were recently able to enjoy an amazing experience and now they are sharing their tale with the world. Who doesn’t love a good surprise?
Celine Chasteen was with a friend in Jupiter, Florida when the visit occurred. She says that the manatees swam right up to them and decided that they wanted to hang out. According to Celine, one of the manatees was as friendly as could be. The animal even rolled over onto its back for their amusement. She says that the manatee even placed its flippers onto her paddleboard.
Luckily, her friend was able to capture this incredible moment on video and share it with the world. The manatees only wanted to stop by and say hello. They did not stay long and they swam off to do whatever it is that manatees do after the recording was complete. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is offering some important information to others who may encounter these “sea cows”, though.
These animals may be friendly by nature but that does not mean that they are meant to be pursued. Manatees will typically avoid people when possible. Do not ever pursue them in search of a better view. If the manatees are looking to approach you, that is fine. However, there is no reason for us to ever reach out and try to touch one.
Thankfully, these friends were able to leave well enough alone. Viewers who have commented on this clip appreciate their willingness to follow the rules. We are tired of seeing people who are looking to ride manatees or mess with nature just to get a few likes on their Instagram page. This video should be shown as a tutorial to all those who encounter manatees in the future.
In the meantime, please be sure to check out this clip and pass it along to your friends and loved ones. If you are anything like us, you will be laughing like crazy at these manatees. They are some of the most unique creatures that the sea has to offer and this unusual encounter has us wishing that we would run into some of these adorable creatures during our next trip to the ocean.
