Instagrammer Travels The World Sharing Photos Of Herself ‘Dying’ At Famous Landmarks

Social media has become such an integrated part of our society, that often times people are willing to do anything for a like. While growing your followers is a major concern for wannabe influencers, a certain Instagram model has found a unique way of gaining herself 18,000 followers: she plays dead at various global locations.

Stephanie Leigh has been around the world, posing for her “Stefdies” – a series of shots which has been in the making for three years now. She wants to advertise “how precious life is”, in addition to showing off pictures which represent a “captured moment in time.”

Stephanie is originally from the United States but has been based in London for a good while. Among the places where she’s played dead are: Golden Gate Bridge, San Diego Zoo, the Eiffel Tower, and Buckingham Palace. Buckingham Palace is in her adopted home.

Stephanie recently spoke to Mailonline, saying, “I realized I wanted to continue putting something positive into the world, while at the same time using art to synthesize my feelings and thoughts regarding our impermanence on this Earth. The official ‘Stefdies’ slogan is ‘leave a mark’. I’d like to think I’m doing that.”

A quick browse of her Instagram, shows her lying face down in a variety of famously scenic places.

Regarding which photo is her favorite, it’s not one that is shot in a massively famous location. In fact, it’s the picture where she’s lying on a deck in front of a passing London bus, and there’s graffiti on the ground that reads, “Fuck Brexit (I never swore before).”

About that shot, she said, “I can’t really choose a favorite, as I like them all for very different reasons, but I think the Fuck Brexit one is the most timely given the current political climate in the UK.”

“I don’t plan out any of my ‘Stefdies’ photos. All ‘Stefdies’ photos happen spontaneously in my life, and on my travels. What is cool about my series is there is no set end date. It continues to grow and evolve along with me organically,” Stephanie added.

So, how do people react to seeing a woman lying flat on her face? Apparently not as concerned as you’d imagine.

Stephanie says that in the entire time she’s been doing her “Stefdies” series, she’s only been asked five times if she’s alright.

“The early ‘Stefdies’ photos were humor snapshots of my life – pretty much in times I was completely exhausted and amused by the situations I found myself in and wanted to capture these moments in time,” she said.

At least she has a sense of humor.
