Man Buys School Bus So He Can Save Shelter Pets From Hurricane

When Hurricane Florence made its way into the southern region over the past week, those who reside in states like South Carolina and Tennessee were forced to make some quick decisions. At times like these, pets often tend to fall by the wayside. Tony Alsup resides in the state of Tennessee and he wanted to make sure that this did not happen to the animals in his area.

He had been saving an old school bus for this precise moment. Tony was willing to risk his own safety to venture in the storm’s path to save the animals. This is not the first time that Tony has put himself in danger to assist animals. As a volunteer with EARS Emergency Animal Rescue and Shelter, this is something that he does on a regular basis.

In fact, he once drove his school bus to Texas to save animals who were in danger when Hurricane Harvey took place. Once he learned of the shelters in South Carolina that were in need of help, he knew that he had to step in. In his mind, animals have lives that are also worth saving. He does not believe that they should go without.

Even if he is the one who has to pay for all the costs associated with these rescue missions, he is still willing to carry them out. This is just the kind of person that Tony is. Thanks to his efforts, 64 dogs and cats were collected before they were left exposed to the elements. The animals were then driven to an Alabama shelter.

From there, they will dispersed to the rest of the country. They will be sent to foster families and hopefully, they are able to find forever homes in due time. Tony has yet to speak publicly about his actions but it is safe to say that all of the other staffers are highly impressed. His selflessness is something that has not gone unnoticed.

Tony took on the task of helping all the animals who would usually be left behind at moments like these. While this is certainly not the most conventional evacuation story ever told, there is no denying the fact that Tony has one of the biggest hearts in the world. If you would like to give Tony a hand, be sure to contact EARS Emergency Animal Rescue and Shelter and make a donation as soon as possible.
