Man Finds Lost Dog And Tries to Help Until He Reads ID Tag

You can’t always say that you understand everything that you see until you know what is going on behind the scenes. A young man named Tyler Wilson got this lesson in the best way.

He was in Kentucky and had stopped at a local gas station when a yellow Labrador came walking up to him. The dog was all by himself and Wilson was sure that the dog was a stray. He had seen the dog before, or so he thought, so he started wondering about the family, if the dog was okay and what he may be able to do to help.

“I’ve seen the dog a couple weeks before around the area. So when he came up to me at the gas station and sat next to me, I was like, ‘This dog has been lost for a while.'” – Wilson Told TheDodo.

That is when Wilson got quite a wake-up call. He decided to look at the ID tag, which was hanging from the collar of the dog. He thought that it would direct him to the dog’s family and he was expecting to see their name and number. What he saw was something quite different and unexpected.

The tag read: My name is Dew. I am not lost. I like to roam. Tell me to go home.

Wilson didn’t tell the dog to go away immediately but he spent some time to give him a little attention.

What he didn’t know is that Dew is somewhat of a celebrity in the local area. Many people know about the dog and how he loves to wander around to say hello to people. When he’s ready, he goes back to his home on a 70-acre farm and his loving family.

Dew loves to wander and he has quite an adventurous spirit. They have tried to keep him at home but he always finds a way to escape. He runs away but he always returns home, so his family decided to embrace the dog’s personality, rather than fighting against it. They feel that he is safe and aware of his surroundings so they expect him to come home safely again.

“Dew loves to make new friends. Fortunately, Dew is chipped and wears a GPS tracker so when his sneaky little self gets out and about, we always know where he is! He just likes to spread the love.”

Although the family realizes that Dew’s wandering ways are not the safest, they have accepted his habit. They are also happy that many people check on their dog to make sure he is okay, to provide him with some water and to give him a scratch behind the ears.
