Puppy Clings To Giant Teddy Bear When Family Abandons Her Within Few Months

There are too many families out there that make the mistake of obtaining a pet without taking the time to consider all of the responsibilities. This is not a choice that should be made lightly. Sure, we all see cute puppies and wish that we could take them home with us. These decisions should not be made without contemplating the long term ramifications, though.

The nation’s shelters are chock full of animals that have been left behind by those who were not truly ready to care for them. Dogs need love, care and discipline. They do not need owners who are merely in it for the cuteness. Bella the dog recently went through a trying ordeal because of one thoughtless family. A Dallas area family took in the Blue Lacy without considering her specific needs.

This breed is a working dog. They do not do well with being cooped up all day. They like to spend time outdoors and owners who are looking to keep them in an apartment should not make that mistake. Instead of realizing their mistake and finding outlets for her energy, they neglected their responsibilities. The family dropped her off at a local shelter and did not think twice about it.

We can’t believe that this family forgot to do the research on their chosen breed. A dog may look adorable at the shelter but what happens once their basic needs aren’t being met? Too many people forget this aspect of pet ownership. Instead, they are worried about the number of likes that they can receive on Instagram for posting an adorable picture.

Bella only had one friend to hold onto: a giant teddy bear. She had lost everything else and was heartbroken to be abandoned by her chosen pack. All looked lost. Finally, Jim Jessup decided to take her home. He had done his homework on the breed and was more than happy to have her. It would take some time before she finally got over her fears, though.

Once the move finally took place, the dog slowly started to realize that her new owners had her best interests at heart. She gets plenty of attention. She also receives the necessary amount of quiet time. Here’s to Bella and her new family. Please share this story to raise awareness about the importance of researching breeds before taking them home. Hopefully, stories like this one can be avoided in the years to come.
