Seven best friends have pooled together their resources in order to buy a mansion that they plan to retire to in order to live together when they get old.
It initially began as a joke, but then the group came across the massive house that was a bit of a fixer-upper out in the suburbs of Guangzhou, China, and that’s when they decided to make their joke a reality.
The group spent four million yuan, which is about the equivalent of $580,240 to renovate the space. The house now has huge floor-to-ceiling windows, swimming pool, and a spacious, open-plan kitchen.
The three-story property also has impressive outdoor gardens. The women, who all seven are tea-lovers, have even tossed around the idea of creating their very own “tea pavilion” so they can all sit outside and enjoy their cups of tea amid the stunning views that surround the house. Sounds like a very lovely way to spend retirement.
Speaking to Yitiao one of the women, Jin Du, commented, “At first it was just a joke. We said we would get together when we were 60 and live retired life together.”
The women are currently in their 30s, and have been best friends since they met 20 years ago. They’re hoping that once they’re of age to retire, and their children have grown up and moved out, they’ll be able to enjoy growing old together in their beautifully renovated mansion.
“We’ll cook, have barbecues in the fields, sing and collect food from the village,” Jin Du added.
All seven of the women have also made a pact to learn a “useful new skill” prior to moving in, like how to grow vegetables or cook something from scratch.
Jin Du has said, “We’re all independent individuals but we can communicate and rely on each other at the same time.”
After a video of their new retirement home was shared on the Yitiao YouTube account, dozens of people have left comments saying that they want to do the same with their friends.
“I am in,” one person commented.
Another person wrote, “This is so nice, having a bunch of close friends and live together in a beautiful place like this.”
While many others also complimented the women on their “beautiful home and beautiful friendship.”
Hopefully they don’t fall out with one another now that they’ve committed to a house together.
