Shy Cat Had Been In The Shelter For Over 400 Days, So Staff Came Up With A Hilarious Plan

The Kemps Creek, Australia Animal Welfare League received a special new addition back in 2015. Champas had gorgeous white fur and his green eyes seemed to follow everyone. The staff believed that the animal would find a forever home with relative ease. Sadly, this was not the case. Champas was a shy animal and this reduced his chances of being adopted significantly.

Most adopters were able to overlook him. Many potential adopters are not going to take the time to look around. Weeks and months went by and no one seemed willing to take Champas home. Once the one year mark came and went, the shelter volunteers knew that they would have to do something. They wanted to help the animal to come out of his shell, once and for all.

In an unprecedented move, they decided to install the shy feline as their receptionist. Champas loved the new position. He was able to spend lots of time with the staff members and he endeared himself to all of the people that were making their way into the shelter. Once Valentine’s Day 2017 was close, they decided to ramp up their efforts even further.

They wanted to make sure that someone took Champas home. To that end, they decided that they were going to make him a dating profile! He’s a single white male who is in search of love. They created a sign that let the world know more about him and they posted about his plight on their Facebook page. The photo went viral right away, of course.

How could anyone resist this awesome cat? He likes to cuddle and he likes the smell of money. We can definitely relate to a dating profile like this one. He also admits to his flaws right off the bat. Champas might be an attention seeker at heart but at least he is honest about it. He is a special fellow, even though he has a few special needs that have to be considered.

He’s got food allergies and needs to remain on a specialized diet. His coat means that he needs to be kept indoors, as well. Any prolonged exposure to the sun will lead to burning. The dating profile worked like a charm, by the way. It did not take long for a new owner to come along. Champas was forced to remain at this facility for over 400 days but he has finally received the happy ending he deserves.
