The Caribbean’s First Floating Taco And Cocktail Bar Is Open for Business

Summer is only a few months around the corner, and if you’re in a cold climate like me, you can’t wait for sunshine and blue skies. Some of you may even be planning a vacation to somewhere warm with endless cocktails and beautifully warm aquamarine seas.

If you are indeed searching the web for places to go, St. John in the US Virgin Islands is one you should keep under consideration. As of the 12 of March, the island is the only place in the Caribbean to have a floating taco and cocktail bar! Lime Out is the first of its kind in the Caribbean, a solar-powered restaurant that floats on the ocean.

Lime Out was the concept of local restaurateurs and owners of Lime Inn bar and restaurant, Richard and Chelsea Baranowski.

The floating taco stand features a swim-up cocktail bar equipped with stools for swimmers to rest while they enjoy a cocktail or food. There’s also a platform for customers to access via boat, kayak, inflatable, or paddleboard. Those who visit Lime Out can enjoy varied taco options like the rum rib, ceviche, green curry chicken, or vegan black bean and quinoa.

There are craft cocktails which start at about $12, and there’s a variety of unique blends like chili-infused tequila or soursop puree. Lime Out is about 200 feet off the shore, and it will also deliver to boats, which is perfect if you’re lounging on a yacht and get a hankering for tacos.

Besides providing a place to enjoy good food and great company, Lime Out is also very eco-friendly. The restaurant’s menus are waterproof and recyclable. Its cups and packaging are either biodegradable or recycle-ready.

Reusable tumblers and other Lime Out merchandise are also available for purchase. You can even bring your own cups for cocktails. Since its opening, Lime Out has been getting a lot of attention on social media, as tourists have been raving about it.

If you are planning a trip anytime soon and are dying to try Lime Out, keep in mind that the taco joint is open Tuesday through Sunday. You can even follow the eatery online to be kept in the loop about promos and menu specials.

So who’s hungry and ready to give it a whirl on vacation?
