In a very sad turn of events, Cheddar from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has passed away. Stewart, the corgi actor who rose to fame for his role on the show, was put to sleep and peacefully passed away as confirmed by his owners.
The corgi spent his final day among his loved ones at the beach where he got to “frolic in the surf,” as well as enjoy an In & Out Burger.
Posting to Instagram, his owners wrote out a tribute to Stewart following the heartbreaking news:
“My precious Stewart crossed the rainbow bridge today. We went to the beach (his favorite place) where he frolicked in the surf and then enjoyed a picnic lunch of In & Out burgers. We relaxed in the sun and just enjoyed each other’s company. Our veterinarian met us there later and Stewart went to sleep peacefully in my arms while listening to the sounds of the ocean. He was a one in a million kind of dog, he was my supaah staah.”
Stewart was an important character on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” sometimes having entire episodes based around him, like when Jake and Amy accidently lost him. He was also integral to the Halloween heist episodes.
Fans have already prepared a memorial reel for Stewart.
Other tributes have also begun to flood social media, proving that the K-9 actor was loved and adored by fans of the show everywhere.
One fan tweeted, “The dog who played Cheddar on B99 passed away and I am SAD. RIP Stewart you’re the goodest boi.”

A third fan posted the question on everyone’s mind, “Cheddar from B99 just passed away. Why is the world so cruel?”
It is still not known whether or not the series will address the death of Cheddar.
But either way, the series won’t be the same. Rest in peace Stewart, you’ll be missed.
