Website Blocked Her From Creating An Account Because Her Last Name Is Considered ‘Offensive’

Some of us don’t get to choose what our name is, usually, we are born and our parents give us our first name and they give us their last name.  I bet there are more than these few people who have had to suffer the kids in school saying their last name followed by a bunch of laughter.

While some people might be okay with jokes about their names.  Most tend to put their foot down at anyone making fun of their last name.

Mostly because it identifies our family and ancestors.  When you joke about someone’s last name is rude and disrespectful to them as well as their family.

Some people have even been shunned because of their last names.

‘For example, In 2017, one man from Canada was forced to change his personalized licence plate because it could be misinterpreted as “a socially unacceptable slogan.”

The “unacceptable slogan” on his license plate was his last name: Grabher.

Lorne Grabher went to court and won!

Now happens if a website denies you? Is there anything you can do?

“Offensive language discovered in the last name field”

Natalie Weiner tweeted a screenshot of exactly what happened to her while trying to set up an account.

The post received almost 50,000 likes to date.

Weiner wrote while laughing out loud  “This is without a doubt the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

According to Weiner’s she had been trying to make an account on MaxPreps, a site that posts high school sports.

Weiner isn’t the only name that people are having problems with.

Mr. Medick and Mr. Butts have similar problems and support Natalie Weiner.

With a last name of Cox, I’m sure you know exactly what she’s talking about.

The website did respond and gave her access with her last name.

Do you think people with inappropriate last names should be blocked from websites?
