Some people mind their own business but others tend to mind the business of others rather regularly. None of us like to be judged but when it happens at the wrong time, it could spark emotions inside of us that we didn’t even know existed.
Emmett Walker is a man who had a run-in with somebody when getting on a flight in Washington DC. He was traveling to the Dominican Republic and the stranger was more than biased, they were racist.
Walker was on his way to the Dominican Republic for his birthday. When the desk agent announced that first class and priority members would be boarding soon, he got up and moved to the line. After all, he was holding a first-class ticket but things went downhill from there.
The woman behind Walker decided that she would check to make sure that he was standing in the right line.
Walker knew immediately that she wasn’t asking out of kindness, she was wondering how a black man could possibly be standing in the same line as her for first class. It started out with her saying “Excuse me, I believe you may be in the wrong line.”
Not only did he correct her, but he also showed her his first-class ticket to prove the point. He then took a picture so he could share the situation with the world.
Even though she saw the ticket, she still questioned him, saying that he “must be in the military or something.”
Not only did she have an opinion about Walker because of the color of his skin, but she was also now insulting military members in a backhanded way as well.
By this point, Walker knew who he was dealing with so he decided to leave her with a parting comment:
“Nope too big to ever be in anybody’s military. I’m just a ni**a with money.”
He posted the story on Facebook, describing the entire interaction:
Her: excuse me i believe you may be in the wrong place you need to let us thru. This line is for priority boarding
Me: priority meaning first class correct?
Her: Yes…now excuse me they will call y’all after we board
Me: *shove first class priority boarding pass in her face* you can relax ma’am I’m in the right spot, been here longer, so you can board after me
Her: *still won’t let It go* he must be military or something, but we paid for our seats so he still should have to wait
Me: nope to big to ever be in anybody’s military. I’m just a n***a with money ???? ????????♂️
Everybody waiting in line: starts to clap lmao
The post went viral and surprisingly, he ended up feeling bad for the woman because she was being trashed ruthlessly.
Walker uploaded another post a day later to apologize to the woman but it was eventually taken down.
He said that he didn’t expect the original post to go viral. He just thought that it would be funny to let people know about the racist comments that were being thrown in his direction.
He admitted that waking up in paradise on his birthday was nice but he wasn’t as happy as he could have been because he caused the woman in line to have a potentially negative experience. He expressed his regret for how the situation was handled and said he wished he hadn’t done it publicly.
In the end, Walker said that he prides himself on putting himself in other people’s shoes and not simply lashing out at them. It sounds like he is somebody I would enjoy knowing.
Her: excuse me i believe you may be in the wrong place you need to let us thru. This line is for priority boarding Me:…
