Animal Shelter Wants The Area 51 Enthusiasts To ‘Come Raid Us’

An animal shelter in Oklahoma is hoping to find animals a forever home in a unique way. They want to do so by luring some of the Area 51 Raiders into the shelter.

“Come storm our shelter…” Oklahoma City Animal Welfare wrote in a Facebook post on Friday. “We have great animals ready to protect you from the Area 51 aliens. Adoption isn’t that far out of this world! #stormtheshelter.”

The post included dogs wearing tinfoil hats, a reference to the Facebook event entitled: “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us.” That Facebook page is jokingly asking people to raid the U.S. Air Force base to ‘see them aliens’ in September.

Amazingly, almost 2 million people are signed up as willing to attend that event. The majority of them are probably in on the joke but the Air Force is still taking it seriously. They are warning people to stay away. According to the creator of the event, Matty Roberts, the event was created as a joke but now he’s worried that he got something started.

Fortunately, the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is looking for homes for the 149 dogs, 54 cats, two pigs and a hamster that are up for adoption. If you aren’t up for going out and irritating the Air Force, you might want to consider going and giving a forever home to one of those animals.

Maybe they even might throw a tinfoil hat in for good measure.
