We Have Been Anticipating the Movie: ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’ for quite some time and it is about to become a reality in November. The part of Mr. Rogers will be played by Tom Hanks and will be based, at least partly on Tom Junod’s 1998 Esquire article, “Can You Say … Hero?”
The first trailer has been released for the movie and fans are loving what they see. Tom Hanks seems to capture the iconic Mr. Rogers in the perfect way with all of his kindness and optimism.
Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, the show starring Fred Rogers, ran for 31 seasons, starting in 1968 and concluding in 2001. Fred Rogers was 74 years old when he died in 2003. He is honored by this movie, as well as a 2018 documentary on HBO, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
