We all love our dogs and wish that we could keep them close to us forever. Unfortunately, their life spans tend to be shorter than our own. This serves as a major obstacle to that goal. When we have to let go of the pets that we care about most, the process can be a very sad one. That’s what makes the story of Barbara Streisand and her dogs so intriguing.
She has access to the resources that keep people from ever having to say goodbye to their beloved pets. Her dog Sammie has already died multiple times. This does not matter when you are Barbara freaking Streisand, though. She was able to stave off the dog’s passing by cloning the pet. These tactics may seem crazy and futuristic to some but they are definitely grounded in reality.
Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett are Barbara’s new dogs and wouldn’t you know it, they were both created with the usage of Sammie’s DNA! Barbara says that she decided to clone Sammie because the dog was like a daughter to me. This was not a decision that she made at the snap of a finger, either. She related to the dog so closely and that is why she felt as if she did not have a choice.
All it took was a specialized kit that was provided by a medical professional. They swapped the inside of Sammie’s mouth and the outside of her stomach to retrieve the necessary cells. Barbara has also obtained a shelter dog to go with her two clones. She does admit that her dogs are a tad bit spoiled but that is to be expected, isn’t it?
Any dog that gets to live with the rich and famous is probably going to end up being spoiled a bit. Barbara says that the clone dogs do share some similarities with her precious Sammie. However, they do not act just like the dog that they were cloned from and there are some subtle differences. Their genetic identity is what is similar, though.
