There are few things that are more heartbreaking to come across than an abandoned animal. This is the story of a group of children who recently had just such an experience. These Phoenix area children were playing in front of an apartment complex when they came across a kitten in desperate need of help. She could not walk because her legs had been covered in casts.

Once the kids took the kitten inside, it became clear that the animal would need help immediately. In order to make sure that the kitten got the necessary, Kathy Hamel was contacted.

She is well known in the local community for her animal rescue assistance. The Arizona Shih Tzu and Small Breed Rescue also employs her as a director. The parents knew that she would have the right plan for the kitten.

Kathy was well aware of the fact that the children would not know what to do. The kitten was not long for this world. If they had not intervened when they did, who knows what might have happened?

The poor kitty had not been fed regularly or even given any water to drink in some time. From the looks of it, whoever was responsible for her had simply left her to die.

“She was quite a sight,” said Kathy. She has been working with rescue animals for some time now and has never seen anything quite like this. It is not every day that you get the chance to check out a cat with a cast on. In addition to the casts, Kathy said that she had never seen a kitten that was this small before. How could someone abandon her like this?

One of the small children that found the cat decided that they would name her Cupcake. What a perfect moniker! Of course, Kathy thought that this name was an awesome idea.
The cat was eventually taken to the vet and given the necessary treatment. Can you believe that her legs were just fine underneath the casts? Her legs were not even injured and no one knows why she had been given casts in the first place.

Cupcake has been through a lot but she is still a very sweet cat. She has not allowed her trials and tribulations to change her kind demeanor. Kathy has already located a forever home for the sweet kitten. Once she is healed, she will start her new life. We are glad to see that this story comes with a happy ending. Please share!
