Xzibit was all smiles while appearing on camera for the hit MTV show “Pimp My Ride.” But behind the scenes, there was some dirty stuff going on that will surprise fans of the show. It has been kept a secret until a couple contestants came forward and revealed the truth about what “really” went down during the show…
Sometimes, the contestants really needed the crew to actually fix their car, not add rims and TV screens in the trunk. But the crew could give two craps about their cars. They did what would add shock value to the show, not fixing repairs that the owner’s really needed.
Contestants have written anonymously on a Reddit sub-forum and revealed all the show’s secrets. One contestant who had a 1986 Buick Century says “They didn’t do a damn thing with any of the mechanical issues, which is why I sold it immediately. Instead, they just painted it and tricked out the interior.”
Another contestant admitted how the show made fun of his weight: “I know I’m fat, but they went the extra mile to make me look extra fat by telling the world that I kept candy all over my seat and floor just in case I got hungry. Then they went as far to put a cotton candy machine in my trunk.”
Another contestant said about their experience on the show: “My [significant other] and I were on our way to grab some food, and as we were going down the hill, the sound system popped and shut down. So we turned around and pulled over once we saw smoke.”
