The Largest Great White Shark Ever Was Caught On Camera

Deep Blue is a shark that has to be seen in order to be believed. While she might look like a creature out of a horror movie, this shark is 100 percent real. At an imposing 20 feet long, this shark is considered to be the single largest to ever be captured on film. Mauricio Hoyos Padilla is a conservationist who was given the chance to come face to face with this shark.

This meeting took place during Shark Week back in 2015. In one video, Deep Blue is seen approaching a cage that contains a diver. The diver actually had the courage to reach out and touch Deep Blue’s fin before she swam away. Conservationists who were present at the time believed that Deep Blue was pregnant. Perhaps this is why she was feeling benevolent.

Deep Blue is now believed to be at least 50 years of age. The average great white has a life span of up to 70 years if they are not being tampered with and we wish her a long and healthy existence. Unfortunately, sharks are unable to live as long as they once did. Since sharks do not live as long, they are unable to grow to the same lengths that they once did.

Today’s sharks are often killed off before they even have a chance to reach the same length as Deep Blue and this is a sad state of affairs. Illegal shark hunting and environmental pollution are two of the main factors in this change. Ever since the initial discovery of Deep Blue during the Shark Week filming session, she has not been spotted again.

Maybe this is how Deep Blue has managed to live for so long. Perhaps she has seen the writing on the wall and knows what is in store for her if she spends too much time around people. To be perfectly honest, we understand exactly where she is coming from. The secret to a long and healthy life might be more simple than we think: just stay as far away from all of the other pesky humans as possible.

If you would like to make a donation that will assist sharks like Deep Blue, be sure to contact Sea Shepherd so that you can find out more. In the meantime, pass this story along so that awareness can be raised about the conditions that these sea creatures are forced to endure.
